The Israelites in the Old Testament did not have direct access to the Father like we do today. They had to go to Gods anointed prophets to determine Gods will.
Ezekiel 20:1 New American Standard Bible (NASB) “20 Now in the seventh year, in the fifth month, on the tenth of the month, men from the elders of Israel came to inquire of the LORD, and they sat before me.”
Jeremiah 21:2 (NASB) “Please inquire of the LORD in our behalf,”
Today we no longer need prophets to determine Gods will for us. He gave us the Bible it is His revealed will for us. Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that He would lie, Nor a son of man, that He would change His mind; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?" He will stand by what He has said in the Bible. We have every right to take it literally and trust Him to fulfill His promises to all generations and to each of us personally.
He also gave us direct access to the Father. We can speak to the Father at any time. It does not have to be a religious prayer. We have the right to speak to Him on any subject just like you would speak to another person. He will hear you, and He will speak to you. He loves you and cares about every aspect of your life.
He also stated that there is power in agreement in prayer, plainly speaking to God. Matthew 18:19 “Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.”
He gave us the Holy Spirit John 14:16-17 (NASB) “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, so that He may be with you forever; 17 the Helper is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him; but you know Him because He remains with you and will be in you.”
John 16:13 (NASB) “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. You are to listen to God’s voice. He will speak to your heart like I speak to you. God has a specific plan for your life and wants to direct your steps. Proverbs 16:9 (NASB) “The mind of a person plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.” You should not in anyway fear about your future. “For God hath not given us the sprit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 King James Version (KJV). What He speaks to your heart will never be contradictory to His written word.
Trust in God's will for your life, you will not be disappointed.
