Romans 8:15 (NASB) For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Galatians 4:6 (NASB) And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Not everyone has had the experience of having a father in the home. Many have no idea what it means to be a father other than in the biological sense. Fathers have a deep abiding love for their children. Traditionally a father has been the protector and provider for the family. Fathers give direction and help to children. Fathers teach children what is good and right.
Psalm 103:13 (NASB) Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.”
Proverbs 3:12 (NASB) “For whom the Lord loves He reproves, Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.”
As a father steps forward in his role a bond develops between him and the child. A child will then run to the father for help and support. The father will put his arms around him/her for comfort.
So, we as children of God can go running to him for help and comfort. We cry Abba Father (Daddy) and he is there for us. Initially we go running to him for salvation and forgiveness of sins. But as we mature, a relationship should build with Him as it does with or earthly father or mother. We learn to talk to him listen to him and be obedient. Abba Father will always be there for us.
